Meeting opened at 7:00 PM.

Quorum established.


Show and Tell: 

Mark Wise discussed the board meeting at NARAM-  Kevin Johnson elected to the board; Natalie and Rachel Schafer and Michala Alexander all received $2K scholarships.  Charis and Bryce made it to the FAI team.  NARCON 2018 to be in Houston.

John McCoy received a plaque from the the Boy Scouts thanking him, Mary, and Mark for their help with the Camp Snyder launch.  

Outreach:  

Alex attended the SISTER launch at Goddard on July 12th.

Apollo Contest at Goddard on July 16th.  81 contestants.

David Fuller helped high schoolers conduct a launch at Blossom Point.

No comments or additions.  Motion by John McCoy, seconded by Jim Miers to accept the Julye meeting minutes.  None opposed, motion passed.

Old Business Discussion:

Goddard Range Hats-  No clue.

2017 Goddard Apollo launch-  Discussed ways to improve the contest in the future. 

Mt. Airy storage unit-  Inventory completed and reorganized.  Centuri trackers suggested to evaluate and see if they can be donated to a musuem such as Seattle's Musuem of Flight.  Some boxes of miscellaneous junk that needs to be identified and removed if need be.

New Business Discussion:

Microrails-
MOTION Alan Williams, seconded by Sarah Jackson:
NARHAMS will purchase 4 microrails that can be used on the launch rack, not to exceed $90.

New NRC rule-  John McCoy noted that the new NRC rule 5.5 states that a rocket must be launched from no higher than 3 meters from the ground.  This allows for very tall launchers.

Saturn V 50th anniversary-  Alex suggests that we observe the 50th anniversary of the Saturn V launch at the November Goddard launch.

LAC newsletter evaluation-  We can now use electronic copies of section newsletters to enter the yearly contest.  And we won!  Thanks, Don!

Night Launch / NARHAMS NRC launch / Capital Cup-  All events are on the same day.  Rules for night launch are posted on the website.

Cub Scout Fun Day- October 28th, Camp Michael, Ellicott City from 12-4.  Volunteers are requested.
