NARHAMS meeting minutes- April 1, 2017 Informal pre-meeting discussion by members (led by Jennifer Ash) on topic of model rocket builds for ECRM. John McCoy brought a few rockets to display. Fabrice Derullieux supplied some most excellent food and drinks that will put all other efforts to shame. Sandwiches, cookies, juices, and really good stuff. Quorum established. Search for open treasurer position: Maria Ha is stepping down as treasurer. Floor was opened for nominations to replace Maria. No one was nominated. New treasurer to be selected in May meeting to allow time for transition. Jennifer Ash has access to the bank accounts in emergencies. Outreach activities: Heroes II Camporee on Saturday March 18, 2017 John and Mary McCoy, Alex Mankevich and Alan Williams. Two (2) demo launches of 13 rockets each. Display booth welcomed scouts and their leaders. Promoted Goddard Launches, Apollo Contest and TARC. Scout Pack 1199 NARHAMS received a big thank you from Doug Fletcher for our help given to the scouts at the Mt. Airy launch on Sat. March 25, 2017. Mark Wise gave a thanks on behalf of the Section. March meeting minutes: The March 2017 meeting minutes were read. Motion by John McCoy, seconded by Fabrice Derullieux to accept the March meeting minutes. None opposed, motion passed. Jen will contact DJ to see if any extra supplies are needed to conduct contest. None opposed, motion passed. New Business: NAR Section 139 renewal was performed by Alex on March 20, 2017. Our charter is good until April 01, 2018. NAR Certificates of Insurance Liability have been granted for Section 139, Goddard Launches, Mt. Airy Launches, AG Center Launches and the Holiday Party. Goddard Launches FAA Waiver Renewal for 2017 to 2018 3/16 rod fit problems for System 2 used at AG Center. Jim Miers reports a few suggestions to rod holders. Jim.s 3/16 rod had been included with the remaining rods and needs to be returned. Recommended that all the rod holders for that system be pulled, cleaned and the screw threads re-tapped as needed and the screws and rods checked for fit and action, and the nylon screws replaced with brass or stainless steel. John McCoy to bring drill, Alex Mankevich to bring rod holders to May meeting for an on the spot repair. Mike Vendre donation at March 2017 Mt. Airy Launch NARHAMS received body tubes, balsa, a launch pad and recovery material from Mike Vendre at the March Mt. Airy launch. Alex sent a thank you email as a follow-up. Alex will bring the supplies to May meeting to use as part of the Fly It, Take It build session. Leftover supplies will be placed as goodies for the holiday party raffle. Tom Bagg has announced two launch dates in May 2016 Gillman School, Roland Ave. in Baltimore City. . May 15th. Two groups of students, two flights per student Westchester Elementary School, Old Frederick Rd. in Catonsville . May 26th Rocket talk in the morning, launch after lunch. Storage Unit Maria Ha has placed the cooler and the bin with the picnic supplies in the storage unit, so be careful opening it. Goddard Range Hats Ed Pearson brought up that we have no more official range hats for Goddard launch volunteers. If none are found, new hats may be printed.
