NARHAMS Business Meeting 5/7/2011 Prior to the meeting, Rob Edmonds led a virtual building session for R/C D BG. The parts were stuck at FedEx in Chantilly. Meeting called to order at 7:23 pm by Jim Filler. Video of presentation and building will show on Carroll County public television. Apr 28 - Tom and Thelma Rackers did straw rockets for 80 kids at ATK Space Systems for Take Your Kid to Work Day May 1 - Goddard launch, 60 rockets, 25 new flyer certificates May 5 - West Chester Elementary School in Catonsville, launch for 90 kids May 6 - Capitol College in Laurel, demo launch of 12 models Minutes from the April meeting were read. Additional sheets were distributed to various people to tag other stores. Jim Filler found a clear plastic display box online for $4.25 each. Motion to order 6 boxes, cost not to exceed $50 (Alan Williams/Alex Mankevich) passed. ECRM is next month. NAR members who only choose to fly Random Altitude and/or Spot Landing may fly for free. Alan Williams spoke to the Bowie city manager about the Jehrico Park launch site. Although our prior request was denied, they are willing to reconsider. Suggestion to consider a day launch first. Capitol College has approved the 123 Launch in October. Ed Pearson will continue working out the details. Treasurer's Report In April, the club collected $80 and spent $139.15 Income: $40 raffle, $20 ZOG-43, $10 dues, $10 refund from section charter fee Expenses: $53 FROG, $50 storage fee, $18.61 ZOG-43, $3.05 ZOG-43, $14.49 flight cards Cash: $167.52 + 20 EUR Bank: $1721.12 Total: $1888.64 + 20 EUR Motion to accept (Jennifer Ash-Poole/John McCoy) passed. New Business There was a discussion about the procedures in place for notification about cancellation of sport launches. The current policy is to make an announcement on Friday by 6 pm if the launch is to be cancelled, and is up to the launch manager to make that call. Suggestion to add weather forecast to the main page of ther web site. May sport launch spot landing rules have been posted to the web site. Carderock Scout Launch on May 19. Launch site is inside the FRZ, so we cannot support the launch. Jim Filler will notify their organizers. Goddard needs bulk packs of A8-3 motors. Alex Mankevich will contact Hobby Works. As a long term solution, Ed Pearson will work with the Visitor Center will purchase new launch rods, flower pots, and batteries, in addition to motor bulk packs. PSC is celebrating their 25th anniversary and approach Semroc to do a limited edition kit. NARHAMS 50th anniversary is coming up in 2015, so we should consider doing something similar. Norwood School in Potomac is looking for launch support on June 4. Harford County camp June 20-24 is looking for building and launch support.
