Old Business

Mark Wise gave an update on the field search. He got some ideas from the NARAM section advisors meeting,
including contacting 4-H, scouts, farm bureau. Most clubs are paying $500-1000 per year. John Hochheimer
also provided a contact at the Maryland research farm.

Alan Williams presented pictures of Jericho Park, near Bowie State University as a possible small scale
launch site. Some concerns were raised about doing the first launch as a night launch. Compromise was
suggested to start the launch earlier and continue into the evening. Bowie park regulations currently
prohibit model rocketry and airplanes, so we would need to get a waiver for the demo launch. Alan has
an introductory letter ready to send to Bowie authorities to seek permission for a launch.

We have received a waiver for launches at Goddard through October. Limit is 2000 feet AGL, and 25 g
propellant (D power). John Hochheimer will submit another waiver for after October.

Launch themes
August - open
September - night launch
October - Oktoberfest
November - R/C glider
December - holiday oddroc

There wasn't much interest in the Super LeMans build and fly, so that will be postponed to a future date.

Maria Ha has patches sewn on half of the safety vests. She will continue working on the rest.

Tom Ha has pricing on stickers: 500 for 71.75, 1000 for 102.50. Motion to buy 2000 stickers, 3" square,
blue and gray on white paper, cost not to exceed $160 (John McCoy/Alex Mankevich) passed.

And patches: 3" are 200 for $276, 3.5" are $306. Motion to buy 200 patches 3.5" round, blue/silver/white,
at a cost of $306 (John McCoy/Jennifer Ash-Poole) passed.

Tom Rackers reported that the Science and Engineering festival on Oct 23-24 on The Mall will not allow
straw rockets to fly. But he may be able to do a building session there, and direct people to come to
Great Meadow, Goddard, or Mt. Airy to launch.

John McCoy has built a prototype straw rocket launcher and demonstrated its operation. He can build 2
for about $100 total. He also demonstrated two other options using plastic bottles.
