The AIAA demonstration launch and picnic at Johns Hopkins Applied Research Lab in Columbia is September 21. Paul Miller, John McCoy, Tom Ha, Khim Bittle, and Don Brown will attend. Khim is bringing both system 1 racks, and Don will take them afterward and bring to October sport launch.
The next night launch is scheduled for September 13. John McCoy has glow sticks, Don Brown has stakes and rope. Don will setup the launch at 10 am. Range shuts down at 5:30 for changeover to night operations, and open again at 7 pm after dinner.
Jennifer reported that Goddard launch this Sunday will be without Alan, Ed, and DJ. There should also be a reporter from Washington Post there.
New Business
John McCoy stepped up on his soapbox. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, we had a club "war chest" with bulk parts (nose cones and body tubes), primarily intended for competitors. The idea is to buy in bulk to get better prices and save on shipping, then re-sell to members more or less at cost. Suggestions for items: nose cones, fins (waferglass), kevlar. John will come up with a list of items to include. Chris will contact BMS, Pratt, ASP to see about volume discounts.
Jennifer Ash-Poole reported that TARC is in need of mentors. There will be 1250 teams this year, but only 165 mentors are registered so far.
The planning meeting is scheduled for October 25, but Jennifer won't be able to attend, plus we need some dates and events set ahead of time for Cadet program publicity. Meeting is moved to October 4, 11 am - 4 pm at College Park Airport.
Tom Ha updated on SPAAR's regional planned for June. Gettysburg field is out. They are trying to get a launch at Tom's new field in Newburg, PA for June 12-13.
