Minutes of NARHAMS Meeting 9/10/99


The meeting was called to order at 7:45 pm by Jennifer Ash-Poole.

The minutes from the August meeting were read. Robert Edmonds moved that they be accepted as read. Mary McCoy seconded the motion.

The slate of candidates for officers was presented and voted on. All officers were elected unanimously:
President: Jim Filler
Vice-President: Alan Holmes
Secretary: Chris Kidwell
Treasurer: Ed Pearson
Advisor: John McCoy
A new office of Dog Catcher was also created, with Alan Williams taking that coveted spot.


Old Business

Jennifer Ash-Poole moved to change the Vice-President title from Princess Bubbles to Prince Zog. Various eloquent discussions took place on the value of maintaining traditions. Alan Holmes seconded the motion. Ed Pearson amended the motion to make Alan Williams the official bubble catcher. John McCoy seconded the amendment. The amendment passed by a vote of 8-3. The motion, as amended, passed by a vote of 9-3.

Alan Williams moved to change the Vice-President title from Prince Zog to Prince Bubbles. John McCoy seconded the motion. The motion failed on a vote of 5-6.

For the AIAA launch on September 19, we will be doing 2 racks for a demo. Jim Filler will bring the PA system, racks, launcher.

For the College Park Air Fair launch on September 25-26, we will also do 2 racks for a demo. Alan Williams informed us that Amanda Baker is no longer at the airport. No tables or chairs will be provided, so Jim Filler will bring tables on Saturday and John McCoy will bring them on Sunday. Members wishing to help are asked to arrive at 8 am for setup, with the launch being at 2 pm.

Treasurer's Report

The club received $30.05 in August: $27.80 in dues, $1.25 in interest, and $1.00 miscellaneous income. We spent $208.31: $10.00 for contest sanction fees, $0.50 for ECRM leftovers, $34.20 for ZOG-43 publication, $73.61 for a new rotary switch for the launch controller, and $90 for club hats.
The cash box contains $60.84
The bank account holds $856.65
The total club treasury is $917.49

Don Brown reported that hats have been ordered, and should arrive in about 2 weeks.

Jim Filler, Alan Holmes, Richard Hickock, and Robert Edmonds did a demo launch at Wood Acres Elementary School on September 2. They did a 2-rack demo, but the field was very small.


New Business

Glenn Feveryear has created the NARSections mailing list at OneList for discussion of section activities.

For the upcoming contest year, we will be hosting HQSM-34 (MATTHEW-3), OPOSSUM-4, and ECRM-27. John McCoy moved that we attend RAMTEC-8 and consider attending a spring regional hosted by NOVAAR. Jennifer Ash-Poole seconded the motion, which passed.

Jim Miers moved that the meeting be adjourned. Ed Pearson seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 9:48 pm.
