Old Business

Jennifer Ash-Poole and Chris Kidwell reported on HQSM-32 and the picnic/night launch. We had 12 contestants for the contest, and got 2506 points, including new US Records for C Dual Eggloft Duration in all 4 divisions. The general consensus was that it was too much for one day, so we should split up the contest and night launches next year.

John McCoy reported that he is working on several leads for new fields. Scott Branche is also trying to get us access to a 27 acre field in Davidsonville.

John McCoy reported on the status of the launch equipment. The Middletown controlled is stripped and ready for new parts. Rack 2 is ready, and rack 3 is being rewired. Rack 1 is in fair condition. John is getting ceramic blast deflectors, and hopes to be done by spring. Total cost so far is $457.83.

John McCoy mentioned that Alan Williams should have a list of all of the club events through 1999 for planning purposes.

Ed Pearson thanked everyone for helping with the November 1 Goddard launch: Alan Williams, Jim Miers, Jennifer Ash-Poole, Chris Kidwell, and Tom Anderson.

New Business

Alan Williams stated that he is planning to take on a new job, which will prevent him from attending meetings on Fridays. He therefore resigns as Advisor. The President is to appoint a new advisor, but in the meantime, John McCoy is taking over.

Alan Williams said he would try to make arrangements for the planned tour of the Garber Facility on January 9.

February 6 is HQSM-33, with the only event being Research and Development. The presentations will be made at College Park Airport. Presenters include Chris Kidwell, Jennifer Ash-Poole, Ed Pearson and possibly John McCoy.

The sport launch for November 14 is a go. Jim Filler will be there until 2 pm, with Jennifer Ash-Poole taking over afterward.

ZOG-43 subscriptions are up for renewal for many people at the December meeting. That meeting will also feature the annual pot luck dinner. Jennifer Ash-Poole has the signup sheet.

Ed Pearson (surprise!) moved to spend $25 for the pot luck dinner. John McCoy seconded the motion.

We need $15 for contest sanction fees for HQSM-33, OPOSSUM-3, and ECRM-26. HQSM-32 was free. Alan Williams moved to spend $15. Alan Holmes seconded the motion.

The section renewal is due soon. We have 6 insured senior members, so we will be able to keep our club insurance.

Alan Williams started his monthly tirade:
College Park Airport is hosting a food/clothing/fund drive on November 7-8.
The College Park Aviator newsletter mentions our participation at AeroFair 98.
There will be a reception at Goddard on November 18 for those who helped with the last community day.
The next community day is May 2, since they are switching to only once per year.

Scott Branche has a special offer for club members: Saturn V kits for $47.95. He also reported from the Chicago Hobby Show on the new Quest micro motors, Estes ready-to-fly Mosquitos, and the return of Estes 1/4A motors.

John McCoy reported that on November 19, cub scout pack 641 will be doing a building session from 6-8 pm. They are expecting about 125 scouts and adults.

Alan Williams moved that the meeting be adjourned. John McCoy seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:21 pm.
