Minutes of NARHAMS Meeting 2/9/96


The meeting was called to order at 8:03 pm.

The minutes from the January meeting were read and accepted by acclaimation.


Old Business

There was a discussion regarding a letter to NAR HQ changing the section advisor to John McCoy.

No commemorative launch for Challenger was done. The event was downplayed at the request of NASA.

Tom Lyon received a call to do a rocket launch for the Girl Scouts.

Children's Day will be held at College Park Airport on March 16 from 11 am - 4:30 pm. A demo launch and kit sale were discussed.

Estes has purchased Cox Manufacturing, making them the largest manufacturer of small engines. The 1996 Estes catalog is the same as 1995, but with a new insert.

Alan Williams reported that the new production of Estes Tuffoam Space Shuttle looks much better.

ECRM will be April 13 - 14. The contest fee and awards were discussed. A motion was made by Jim Filler to spend up to $200 for trophies. The motion passed.

LDRS will be held July 3 - 6.

Eclipse is taking over some of the Apogee components line. 10.5 mm motors are certified, with the exception of the B2. Business problems are holding up production. Tom Lyon is trying to get the actual motor diameter so that body tubes may be fabricated.

NOVAAR will be hosting VACUUM-20 on May 4. Events are 1/2A B/G, A HD, 1/2A PD, 1/2A SD, and Open Spot Landing. NOVAAR will also host NICE on June 1. Events are B B/G, 1/2A Altitude, 1/2A PD, 30-sec Set Duration, A HD.

The NAR Board of Trustees has voted to retain control of Sport Rocketry , and voted on steps to return it to a monthly schedule. The contract is currently terminated and Sport Rocketry is out of production.

A motion was made to adjourn and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 pm, with cluster altitude building session following.
